Change school summer holidays: start at the beginning of July and end mid August
School summer holiday should start at the beginning of July and finish mid August. This would help students avoid the negative impact of climate change on their education.
On average in the UK July is the warmest month. The Met Office projects the UK will have increasingly hotter, dryer summers, with heatwave events becoming more frequent and intense.
Heat negatively impacts students ability to learn. Heatwaves can cause health issues especially for young children and those with medical conditions.
The climate is changing, it's time for the school term to change too.

While the Government is responsible for setting the minimum number of days students should spend in school each year, decisions about term dates are a matter for local authorities.
