Abolish Deduction from Earnings Orders (DEO) from the Child Maintenance Service.
The Government should abolish the process of a DEO entirely and replace it with an affordability appeal process.
Deduction of Earnings Orders is a controversial form of collection that takes money from a Non-Resident Parent’s (NRP) earnings every month. The principle behind this is that a parent who is refusing to pay has an order to make the deductions. We call on the UK Government to understand the pressures this puts on NRP and replace it with an affordability appeal process.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about Deduction from Earnings Orders being used in respect of child maintenance debts, but we're not sure exactly what you mean when you say you want an "an affordability appeal process".
You could start a new petition explaining more clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
