Petition Action

Decommission all fossil fuel power stations by 2023

Petition Details

In light of the recent extremely dangerous heatwave, we are calling on the government to enact decarbonisation policies by decommissioning all fossil fuel power stations by the end of 2023 (with retraining for their workers) and to immediately stop granting new extraction and burning licenses.

Additional Information

We are in an age of climate collapse, and it is happening faster and more drastically than we had predicted. Scientists and activists have been warning us with increasing urgency for decades and yet governments continue to ignore them. The UK should be a world-leader in decarbonisation but we are failing abysmally. We demand a liveable future from our government.
