Require that flats built from 2010 onward be retrofitted with air conditioning.
Multi flat new builds from 2010 onward must be required to install air conditioning units in order to provide safe housing for tenants during the summer months. Simply requiring better insulation is not sufficient enough.
The number of days with temperatures of 30+ degrees are increasing. It is important for the health and safety of UK residents that there be housing options that are not inhumane during the summer months.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about whether to install air conditioning in multi-occupancy buildings or not are a matter for each individual building owner or tenant, and not a decision for the Government or Parliament.
You could have a petition calling on the Government to make funds available to people who would like to retrofit their buildings with air conditioning units, if this is something you would like to see happen.
