Allow Boris Johnson To Run As A Wildcard Candidate in Leadership Contest

Petition Details

This is a request to the 1922 Committee to allow Boris Johnson to run as a wildcard candidate in the leadership contest and let the membership decide who leads the party into the next General Election.

Additional Information

This petition is requesting the 1922 Committee to agree to Boris Johnson to become a wildcard candidate and run alongside the remaining two candidates to decide who they really prefer to lead the party into the next General Election.

The membership never had a say as to how they viewed Boris Johnson as a Prime Minister and this petition is requesting the 1922 Committee to reconsider their position and allow the membership to make the decision who leads the party into the next General Election.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about the Conservative leadership contest are a matter for the Conservative Party, not the UK Government or Parliament.
