Members should require explicit permission to join transnational organisations.
Members of parliament are elected as public servants and hold office exclusively to faithfully serve the interests of the British public. Any relationships that may call their loyalty into question should be closely vetted and open to public scrutiny.
We must protect our democracy from subversion by entities that seek to influence political outcomes in the UK, whether by leveraging relationships or through the distribution of benefits in kind. We should recognise that membership of certain organisations can represent a conflict of interests and may lead to decisions that ultimately do not respect the will of the British people.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about MPs becoming members of international bodies, but it's not clear who you want MPs to be required to seek permission from before joining such an organisation.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
