Provide ADHD & Autism Screening to all young people referred to CAMHS
When young people are referred to the Children and Adolescents’ Mental Health Service, in the initial consultation sessions, include pre-assessment questionnaires for both ADHD and Autism.
So many young people, especially non-males, are being left undiagnosed and misdiagnosed because CAMHS professionals are not considering that they might be neurodivergent. Getting a diagnosis as early as possible is essential for the young persons mental health, confidence, and potential. It will also save the NHS a huge amount of time and money on resources, therapy and medication that are wrongly given to young people who are misdiagnosed with mental health conditions.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about what screening to conduct for people referred to CAMHS are a matter for the NHS and individual clinicians, not the UK Government or Parliament.
