Ban the introduction of unsafe ‘surgical care practitioners’ to the NHS.
It has been proposed that the U.K. will introduce ‘SCPs - Surgical Care Practitioners’ to the NHS because of a perceived ‘shortage of doctors’.
There is no shortage of doctors. Introduction of this role will be of huge detriment to surgical trainees, to patients and responsible consultants. This is unsafe, and unjustifiable when there are countless surgeons in training there to do specifically these operations. Stop this unsafe practice

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. Decisions about what staff to employ are a matter for individual NHS Trusts, not the UK Government or Parliament.
We could accept a petition calling for the Government to require surgical care practitioners to register with a professional regulatory body, to ensure that they are subject to specific statutory regulation.
