Publish a petition which aims to ban standing charges on utilities
The standing charges on utilities are unfair and regressive. They hit the poor more than they hit the rich. - The regulator was not thinking about the poor when he permitted the imposition of the standing charge!
The Govt. know the situation and are supposed to be caring for the poor, needy, disabled and elderly. They must act against enormously rich companies and protect the consumer.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Decisions about standing charges are a matter for utility providers and Ofgem, not the UK Government or Parliament.
The price cap is a cap on a unit of gas and electricity, with standing charges taken into account. Find out more about the energy price cap, including how it includes standing charges, here: www.ofgem.gov.uk/check-if-energy-price-cap-affects-you
