Stop the use of annual RPI increases in Mobile phone and Broadband contracts.
Ban the practice of increasing contracts for things like mobile phones and broadband by the Retail Price Index plus a fixed amount where they increase automatically each year
This traps people into what looks like good deal into something that gets a lot more expensive later while they are locked in. Ii also fuels inflation.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about the terms and conditions of consumer contracts are a matter for individual businesses, not the UK Government or Parliament.
There is already legalisation to protect consumers from unfair terms in a contract, and it would be up to the courts to determine whether a particular term was unfair, and therefore unenforceable.
You can find out more about unfair terms in sales contracts here: www.gov.uk/unfair-terms-in-sales-contracts/unfair-consumer-contracts
