Make the citizenship programme of study more specific in regards to Human Rights
I put forth the motion to amend the citizenship programme of study, to ensure that all children receive equal education, by including more specific aspects regarding Human Rights.
These points/aspects should be based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
For example:
Article 6 (life, survival and development)
Article 19 (protection from violence and abuse)
Article 14 (freedom of thought, belief and religion)
Article 24 and 25 (health and treatment)
Article 2 (non-discrimination)
To list a few.
In the current programme of study, it states “Human Rights”. This is referred to as a general topic and is inadequate, which consequentially may mean that children are not taught the same vital information.
I call upon the education minister to address this issue.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We understand you'd like the citizenship curriculum to be more specific on human rights, but your petition isn't specific about what you'd like to change.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
