Petition Action

Ban automatic renewal of contracts

Petition Details

Ban companies from automatically renewing any contract without seeking explicit formal (verbal, written or digital) consent from the consumer or company to which they were originally provided at the time, unless goods, services or funds have provenly been provided which must be repaid.

Additional Information

Automatically renewing contracts at the very least is unacceptable on moral grounds and can cause unnecessary stress and upset to consumers and businesses, potentially forcing them into financial uncertainty. This is even more relevant today with the financial strains people and businesses are facing and should be made law.
