Ban DVLA from sharing data of vehicles’ registered keepers

Petition Details

It’s unthinkable that whilst GDPR laws are in force, a Government agency - DVLA - can legally pass personal data of the registered keepers of vehicles to private companies using ANPR cameras and charging drivers penalties on private car parks. It stirs citizens’ lack of trust and should be ended.

Additional Information

GDPR is in force in order to protect personal data. If someone who holds personal data makes it available to a 3rd party, they commit a criminal offence. We believe it is unacceptable that the DVLA is allowed to share personal data of the registered keepers of vehicles with private companies, without the individual's consent. We hate this arrangement and want the Government to end it immediately. We believe it supports the unfair treatment of British motorists.
