Additional Information

Ofgem are a government department, responsible for the lifting of (or not) energy prices caps and the regulation of the energy industry.
Whilst the nation struggles with day to day costs, inflation rising, and stagnant wages, energy firms report record breaking profits, whilst we suffer.
We demand the government put a freeze on raising the price cap further, before millions of families fall into fuel poverty, debt and ill health, all for the sake of lining shareholders pockets.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The calculation of the energy price cap is a matter for the regulator Ofgem, which is operationally independent of the UK Government and House of Commons. You can find out more about how the price cap is calculated here: www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/check-if-energy-price-cap-affects-you.
