Petition Action

Help full time working parents with childcare costs more than you already do

Petition Details

Full time working parents should get more towards childcare costs I don't think £2 for every £8 is enough when we have to work full time pay a mortgage and all other bills, and parents who do not work get childcare for free, they get a house and anything else they are entitled too - WE GET NOTHING

Additional Information

I think it's only fair as we go to work for 40 hours plus every week and bust our guts to make sure our children are cared for whilst we work but there is no point in working as the money is completely gone by the time you have paid nursery fees, mortgage, household bills, food shop ETC

and people who keep having more and more children so they don't have to work get everything for free and most likely get more than we do for doing nothing but still send there children to nursery for FOC

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about support for working parents to pay for childcare, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

All 3 to 4-year-olds in England can get 570 free hours per year, and some parents will be entitled to 30 hours a week free childcare. You can find out more about these arrangements here:

15 hours free childcare for 3 and 4-year-olds: www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs/free-childcare-and-education-for-2-to-4-year-olds

30 hours free childcare: www.gov.uk/30-hours-free-childcare

You can also get up to £500 every 3 months (up to £2,000 a year) for each of your children to help with the costs of childcare: www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare

We can accept petitions calling for changes to any of the above schemes, or for a new scheme, but it would need to be clear what changes or new support you want the Government to offer.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

Increase free childcare for working parents with children under school age: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/618895
