Require MPs to disclose all shares in energy companies, regardless of size

Petition Details

MPs should be required to disclose any amount of shares in energy companies. These investments could be accruing personal profit as a result of public policy.

Additional Information

If the government's policy concerning the energy hikes results in personal profits from shareholdings, then this would be a direct conflict of interest. Furthermore, any deliberate apathy regarding the price increases and directly profiteering as a by-product would be akin to rigging the system. At the moment, MPs only have to declare holdings which are more than 15% of the share capital or partnership or shares which are valued at more than £70,000.
