Increase maintenance loan for uni students to cover the cost of living increases
Increase the maintenance loan for students with immediate effect for the Academic year 2022/23.
Students will be facing real hardship and having to turning to additional help including financial support through family (who are already facing increasing living costs themselves) or limited access to hardship funds.
A 2.25% increase in England maintenance loans will not be sufficient for the majority of students in order to help cover the 10.1% inflation rate increase as of July 2022.
students are effectively 7.86% worse off.
