Make online ticket touting illegal.
For most major sports events, music concerts, etc., the tickets are sold online.
For popular events, touts use automated software "bots" to buy tickets by the hundred, for the sole purpose of reselling them at inflated prices.
This practice amounts to legalised robbery, and must be made illegal.
For the forthcoming Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn fight, it was announced that tickets would go on sale at a specific time.
From that time, all 20000 tickets were sold out in ten minutes. This is simply not possible, unless they were being bought en masse.
Another ten minutes later, thousands of tickets appeared for resale on another web site, at three or four times their face value.
The practice of mass buying of tickets, for the sole purpose of reselling them for profit, must be stopped!
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure whether you want all ticket resales to be prohibited, or only those where tickets are being sold for more than face value.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
