Criminalise the use of cloned number plates. Taxes lost and it is I.D. theft.
Criminalise the use of cloned number plates and compel the police to accept footage of number plates being switched. The Dvla show no interest yet they are the ones losing out on vehicle tax.
A coordinated response is needed between the Dvla when a vehicle is reported and the police. Reward neighbours for reporting false number plates. with a credit on car tax. The police aren't taking cloned plates seriously, yet they are used in all types of criminal activity. A neighbour changed plates 3 times after forcibly removing a Dvla clamp. Footage was given to the police they did nothing then the vehicle disappeared. A second and third vehicle then had plates changed... Still no interest.

Using number plates from another vehicle or forged or altered number plates is already a criminal offence.
Decisions about investigating and prosecuting alleged crimes are a matter for the police and Crown Prosecution Service, not the Government or Parliament.

We could accept a petition calling for the penalties for using number plates from another vehicle or forged or altered number plates to be increased, if that's something you want to happen.
