I want the government to live on the wage that they believe people can survive on so I would like them to live on the national living wage for the area they live in.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understands that you're concerned about 'Government pay', but we're not sure if you're referring to Ministers or civil servants, or both.

The Government is responsible for Civil Service pay deals, but cannot unilaterally reduce pay for contracted staff.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay, but the Government is responsible for setting ministerial salaries (an additional amount MPs or peers receive for being a Minister).

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
