Make school transport affordable to all.
We want Local Authorities to work together to provide cross border school services.
We want the government to subsidise transport to academy and grammar schools.
We want a realistic cap on the amount parents have to pay for transport to school.
The Department of Education 'Home to School Travel and Transport Guidance 2014' gives evidence that LAs are actively being encouraged to move towards private transport solutions and have parents/schools foot the bill.
Cuts to public bus services are forcing parents into paying extortionate amounts of money to get their children to school. We have to pay approximately £2000 per pupil, per year to travel to school.
This is to our nearest state Grammar School.
It is unaffordable by many parents.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Government isn't responsible for the work of local authorities, including compensation.
We could accept a petition calling for free or subsidised transport to grammar schools, if that's what you'd like to see happen. Academies are already included in the current transport rules. We could also accept a petition calling for a cap on school transport prices, if that's something you'd like to see happen, but you'd need to make clear how that was different to subsidised transport.
