Petition Action

STOP on-duty uniformed police from participating or showing support to ANY group

Petition Details

For the Gov.to issue clear and precise guidance to 'UK Chiefs of Police' in an effort to restore the all-important 'IMPARTIAL POLICING' which now sadly appears to be irrelevant and a thing of the past.
(Police Disciplinary Regs. have not changed and so action can be implemented, if needed)

Additional Information

It is being allowed, indeed condoned, far too often by forces now. It is not in line with the concept of British Police,i.e. policing with total impartiality and once fine reputation of policing without 'fear or favour'.
Like many of my fellow retd. police, I am now deeply concerned and ashamed of the conduct of some police.
I accept times change but there is still a place for respect, dignity, and reputation to be retained by the once worldwide respected British Bobby.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Police officers are already required by law to act with fairness and impartiality. Decisions about how police officers meet these requirements, and what disciplinary action to take where police officers fail to meet these requirements, are a matter for individual police forces, not the UK Government or Parliament.
