I would like an amendment to the current Divorce Property laws.
In Divorce cases the law regarding property has to be divided into 50/50. I feel this is extremely unjust. If one partner has contributed more they should receive more or owned the property before the marriage 50/50 is not acceptable especially if the marriage was short lived.
I want a revised law regarding the 50/50 split on the Divorce property law. Because every case is different and should be judged independently regarding to each case merits. Not a blanket law that fits all.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. This is a decision for the courts.
Section 25 of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 stated that there are no rules which state how the assets should be divided, if spousal maintenance should be paid and if so how much should be paid and for how long. It is not 50/50 split. It is the discretion of the courts how property will be divided.
