Leasehold flats to become Commonhold in England and Wales
Unlike in Scotland, one can only get leasehold flats in England and in Wales due to the outdated laws that favour wealthy landowners.By introducing commonhold flats (in which the apartment owners own a percentage of the land),more people could become homeowners. Lease is prepaid rent, not ownership.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions must call for a clear and specific ask from the Government or Parliament. While we can see you'd like the Government to make changes to flat ownership, it's not clear what exactly you'd like the Government to do. It's already possible to own flats in England and Wales through commonhold ownership. You can read more about this here: www.gov.uk/guidance/commonhold-property
