Petition Details

I would like the government to change the law, so that they can't require students to take specific GCSEs (Excluding core subjects). This allows students to pick their choices for their future, instead of a school doing it for them.

Additional Information

Many other Year 9 students and I are starting to pick subjects for our future, however we are limited due to the fact some school's have chosen certain GCSEs for us (e.g. French, Spanish or RS). If this was not the case, it would allow many people to have more control over their future.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The decision on what GCSEs are mandatory is one for each individual school and not a decision for the Government or Parliament.
