Remove VAT on loft insulation
The average semi detached house needs 16 rolls of insulation material 200 mm thick, to bring any existing 70 mm insulation up to current building standards. The 20% VAT on 16 rolls of insulation typically exceeds £200. This petition calls for the removal of all VAT from insulation materials.
At a time of inflated energy costs and the threats caused by climate change. Householders need help and encouragement to take affordable steps to reduce the burden on the nation's energy needs. To add 20% to the cost of home insulation is unhelpful, discouraging and nonsensical.
