The Government must increase benefits by rate of inflation
Update benefits in line with inflation. Not wage increases
The Government must increase benefits in line with current levels of inflation, to help stop the cost of living crisis becoming a poverty emergency.
More details
Inflation-linked benefits and tax credits will rise from April 2023, in
line with the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rate of inflation in September 2022
However, inflation has now reached high levels and are expected to keep rising. This will hit the poorest families hardest and failing to increase benefits to match will push more people into poverty.
