Petition Action

Stop shops/online retailers incentivising people to have a vaccine.

Petition Details

Introduce a bill to make it illegal for shops, resturants, supermarkets, and any other retail or entertainment venue, including online retail, to coerce, encourage, or promote the taking of a vaccine in exchange for loyalty points, cash, discounts, or membership benefits.

Additional Information

Making a decision to take any sort of medication, including vaccines, needs to be a considered effort unfettered by the promise of financial incentives and/or rewards. We must be free to think through such a choice without emotional persuasion.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about whether to offer discounts or other rewards to people are a matter for individual businesses, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We could accept a petition calling on the Government to outlaw discrimination on the basis of vaccination status, so that businesses are not allowed to treat people differently on the basis of whether they have been vaccinated.
