Make rape sentences a mandatory life sentence with a minimum tariff
I want the government and Parliament to change sentencing rules and enshrine in law that conviction of rape is a mandatory life sentence with a minimum tariff similar to other serious crimes.
Rape is one of the most serious and horrific crimes snd due to its severity an appropriately severe sentence is necessary to hopefully deter others and hopefully prevent future victims.
Other serious crimes such as murder , armed robbery etc are mandatory life sentences with minimum tariffs and rape should be treated the same as it matches the severity of the crime and hopefully means the severity can put potential offenders off the streets for potentially life but also hopefully stop others.
