Legalise, regulate, and tax medical and recreational marijuana
In the wake of the current governments mini-budget it is apparent that public services and borrowing costs are likely to be the main victims.
Legalizing marijuana has been tried and tested in many places across the globe all of which have shown net-positive health and economic benefits.
The positive effects of implementing this policy include:
- Creation of jobs for thousands of individuals
- Additional tax revenue stream for the govt
- Decrease in spending on police for marijuana-related crimes
- Access to proven cannabis-based medical treatment to those in need
- Potential to sell medical marijuana via NHS, boosting income
- Increased tourism income
- Increase in sales for related activities which would further increase tax to the govt and income to the public
