Reduce the retirement age of long term shift workers
Shift workers have a lower life expectancy than non shift workers. In the light of fairness the pensionable age should be reduced to reflect this.
The retirement age is continually being reviewed adjusted so nobody spends more than a third of their adult life in retirement. This is unfair on those who have spent most of their working life doing shift work. These people will spend much less than a third of their life in retirement as a result. The risk of heart disease, cancers and other illnesses which are all increased from shift work would be reduced if shift workers could retire earlier putting less strain on the NHS.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you want people who do shift work in the long term to have an earlier state pension retirement age, but it's not clear who you want to be eligible for an earlier state pension retirement age, or how much earlier you want these people to be able to get their state pension.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
