It’s too expensive and students have decided not to go to university due to the costs

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
The Government sets the maximum universities are able to charge for tuition fees, but it is up to individual universities to decide what to charge within these maximums. If universities were not able to charge tuition fees it is unclear how university courses could be delivered.
We could accept a petition calling on the Government to fund free higher education for everyone, if that's what you want to happen.
