Petition Action

live-in carers need to be paid the same hourly rate as other carers and support workers in the health sector

Additional Information

live-in-careers who provide 24 hour care in the clients home are being paid as low as £400 gross salary a week which works out to be £2.38 per hour which falls well short of the minimum hourly wage. Whereas carers and support workers who provide 24 hour care but on 8 hour or 12 hour shifts are paid rates of up to £15 an hour. This is an unfair and illegal labor practice which needs to be redressed as a matter of agency.
