Make Mental Health first aid courses mandatory for employers
Employers have a responsibility to support their employees' mental wellbeing. Some do not or wish to but do not know how to. Mental health 1st aid courses are readily available and can provide the toolkits to assist employers in supporting their staff who suffer from mental ill health.
I would like the health secretary to firstly make mental health first aid courses free or under a bursary for low income companies, charities and not-for-profit organisations, but also to commit to legislation calling for all employers and those in positions of authority to pass a nationally recognised mental health first aid course as part of their workplace's health and safety requirements.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
You may wish to sign this petition which calls for a similar action: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/616991
The Government is not responsible for the price of mental health first aider courses, but we could accept a petition calling on the Government to fund these courses for workplaces, if that's something you'd like to happen.
