Petition Action

Do not allow Liz Truss to collect a prime minister’s pension.

Petition Details

Reduce the prime ministerial pension rights. Make it equal to the average wage for someone with 5+ years service, payable at 20% of this amount per full year served.
Apply this rule retrospectively to Liz Truss.

Additional Information

Previous prime ministers are allowed to claim a prime ministerial pension of £115,000 per year. This is too much. It is obviously unjust to get the full amount of money for 6 weeks in the job.

Under the Ministers’ Pension Scheme Ministers, including the Prime Minister, accrue a part of their pensionable salary in each year they are a contributing member of the scheme, and have a normal pension age linked to their State Pension age. The Public Duty Costs Allowance is claimable for reimbursement of incurred expenses for necessary office costs and secretarial costs arising from former Prime Minister's special position in public life.
