Make it mandatory to build houses on all brownfield sites 1st before greenfield.
The government must make it mandatory to build new homes on brownfield sites instead of destroying areas of natural land to preserve the wildlife which inhabit them and the beauty of these natural areas, making use of sites which have previously been developed but now unused.
Although there is a need for housing, more areas of local natural space are being destroyed to meet the increasing need to build more homes, leading to fewer natural spaces within and around local communities for nature to thrive and for people to benefit from. Distinction between council districts are diminishing in places due to the development of new housing. No new land should be destroyed until all brownfield sites have been utilised to their potential. Prioritising preservation of nature.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you're concerned about development of greenfield sites, but it's not clear if you want a total ban on development of greenfield land, or just restrictions on when development of greenfield land can be approved.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. If you want new restrictions on when development of greenfield land can be approved, rather than an outright ban, it would need to be clear what restrictions you want to be imposed.
