Overturn the local BBC radio cuts
The BBC has always been a source of unbiased news and local radio stations are so important to communities.
We need the local BBC radio shows to continue and funding needs to be reinstated to allow the daytime, evening and weekend shows to carry on providing essential news and community spirit.
The previous few years in particular have shown how important local radio is.
Throughout the Covid years, the local BBC radio shows have provided much needed comfort to millions. A friendly voice reassuring those who feel lonely know that they aren't alone. Some much needed humour injected into our lives via our favourite broadcasters and help, support and advice given to those in the community who need it most.
Please don't take away something that is a lifeline to so many.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. Decisions about funding for local BBC radio services are a matter for the BBC, not the UK Government or Parliament.
The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the Government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.
