Petition Action

Require ministers to give direct & accurate answers to questions in parliament.

Petition Details

If they don't, make them in contempt of parliament and fine them personally & put them in jail as in a court of law until they apologise and answer the question. Pass the necessary legislation/parliamentary procedures for the above to be operational.

Additional Information

Will make the government truly accountable to parliament & voters and stop politicians from avoiding their responsibilities. It will also help politicians be seen as truthful & open and rebuild the trust & faith that we need in our leaders to successfully move towards better times as a country/people. It will also promote a better form of political debate that could positively influence other forums.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament as a whole aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Order in the Commons is the responsibility of the Speaker personally, and individual Ministers are responsible for their answers to questions.
