Ban MPs from blocking constituents from their social media accounts.
Ban MPs from blocking constituents from their social media accounts and from removing (non abusive) comments and questions from their constituents.
Also, require them keep a copy of items they remove, so it can be justified later, if challenged.
Many MPs are very active on social media, updating constituents and giving opportunities to air their opinions.
Some MPs are reluctant to engage with constituents whose views may not match their own and some (my own included) have blocked them from their accounts.
Constituents cannot then even see what their MP is posting and are prevented from responding or asking questions.
This is unacceptable!
MPs are elected to serve their constituents and we should all have the right to equal access.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about social media use by MPs are a matter for individual MPs, not the UK Government or Parliament.
