Make restaurants have gluten free choices for sufferers of coeliac disease

Petition Details

Coeliac disease is where a person has an allergy to gluten, which damages the small intestine, and has several harmful and uncomfortable symptoms, including severe bloating and stomach cramps, constipation, fatigue, infertility, vitamin deficiencies, difficulty to gain weight, rashes, seizures etc.

Additional Information

Coeliac disease is not a choice, and there are hardly any options for food in restaurants and takeaways, however diets like veganism are a choice, and they have many options made available. This disease affects 1 in 100 people. More information can be found on www.coeliac.org.uk

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Government is not responsible for setting specific menu requirements for restaurants. This is a decision for individual businesses.
