Give mothers and children more rights in family court matters (domestic abuse)
To give mothers and the children of physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse more of a say in what’s right for their children when it comes to contact with the other parent.
So many court cases grant abusive dads access to their children, regardless of whether the children want to go or not and forcing children to be around the abuse again when they physically don’t want to regardless of the child’s age. It affects their mental health in the long run by being forced by the courts to do something they don’t want to do as it’s upsetting for them and scares them. It’s part of the problem for mental health in young children.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Decisions on child arrangements are a matter for the courts to decide. We could accept a petition calling for changes to specific rights or changes to the law for parents, if the petition is clear what changes you'd like to see happen.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
