Raise carers allowance to minimum wage. UC deduct as any other incomes are.
The minimum hours of caring criteria to receive carers allowance is 35 hours per week Carers allowance should reflect at least 35 hours caring per week at minimum wage.
Means tested incomes should be calculated the same way for all in universal credit.
When a family member needs support
It can be months or often it is years, especially if the person requiring care is a child.
This immediately changes a person's ability to earn and oftentimes means they cannot maintain any employment. The standard of living becomes one of poverty and no choice.
Carers must be supported in what may be the greatest of sacrifice for others there is. Providing care should not mean the loss of everything else in life. Give carer's their dignity to live better lives
