Introduce primaries to allow public to decide party candidates in UK elections
Reform the system of appointing candidates to become local MP’s so that the public has a say on who represents their constituency. Having candidates chosen by the party discourages MP’s from interacting with constituents and allows for more career politicians.
It will allow for a fairer system in which people who live in a safe seat constituency like Louth & Horncastle can have more of a say in who their MP is. It will also allow for a more proportional system whilst keeping First-Past-The-Post. Because the USA have this system in place, we know it would work and will allow for higher political participation whilst also encouraging non-career politicians and local people to try get into office.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about selection of candidates for parliamentary elections are a matter for individual political parties, not the UK Government or Parliament.
