Petition Action

Review application of the mental health act regarding ASD/Learning disability

Petition Details

Investigate application of the Mental Health Act on those with ASD/Learning disability. Ensures better access to appropriate psychiatric care. Review living conditions & use of isolation when held under section and ensure care provided only by trained ASD professionals if held under section.

Additional Information

Because for ten years since my own Son was diagnosed with level 3 autism I have seen time & again caregivers of autistic & learning impaired individuals jumping through a multitude of hoops to access a psychiatrist when their child is clearly suffering from anxiety. This often then results in patients held under section as a danger to themselves or others in appalling conditions & insufficient care provision which causes unmeasurable suffering to patients & their families.
