All healthy dogs in Laboratories/breeding facilities rehomed not euthanised
Figures for rehoming of suitable dogs should be submitted and published annually by the Government to ensure the process is easy and robust. Parliament/Secretary of State needs to revise the ASRU procedures so there is mandatory rehoming options using charities/organisations such as the RSPCA.
Applications for breeding of laboratory dog licences do not state a rehoming policy. Applications for research licences almost never state dogs can be rehomed if healthy after the procedure. Rehoming is not valued highly enough in the UK. Dogs should only have one experimental procedure and not be used repeatedly allowing the possibility of rehoming of Vet checked healthy dogs.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Government and Parliament can't require people or organisations to take in animals.
We could accept a petition that required all laboratories involving dogs should be required to have a rehoming strategy as a condition of being issued a licence, or for the Government to fund a care/home system for laboratory animals, if those are things you'd like to see happen.
