Revoke approval for the Whitehaven coal mine

Petition Details

The government must immediately revoke approval for the Whitehaven coal mine and all other fossil fuel extraction and combustion projects, and massively accelerate the clean energy transition

Additional Information

At COP26 the UK government committed to phase down coal. The international energy agency has said that any new fossil fuel developments are incompatible with the 1.5 degree climate target set at the Paris Agreement. To open a new coal mine in 2022 is economically, ecologically and morally reprehensible.
