Actually CUT government spending
Most people think that government spending is being cut - it is actually still growing. Every 1% growth in government spending crowds out private sector investment, and reduces long-run GDP by 0.1%. The Institute of Economic Affairs has published a paper (http://www.iea.org.uk/publications/research/sharper-axes-lower-taxes) which points out cuts in spending & cuts in taxes that could be made which would make britain more competitive, boosting long-run gdp gowth
