To change the way you fund schools to a basic amount plus an amount per child.
Currently you only provide an amount per pupil. What is needed to make funding fairer is that all schools get the same basic amount say £900,000 per year towards fixed costs and overheads like heating and water. Then an amount per pupil on top of this. At present small schools are at a disadvantage.
Currently, to open or reopen a school you require a commitment of 120 pupils per year. This just isn't possible in areas of low population where there are much lower numbers. Why should these schools be forced to close just because of lack of funding. You allow companies to charge standing charges on electric and water for instance. All schools whatever the size have fixed overheads and these should be covered first. Then an amount per pupil added on even if it is less than is currently paid.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Schools already receive a lump sum payment as part of their funding, although this is currently set much lower than your suggested amount. You can read more here

You could start a new petition asking for the lump sum to be increased, but you'd explaining clearly how much or a minimum amount you'd like to see.
