End subsidies on MP’s food in the House of Commons
Taxpayers paid £17 million to subsidise bars and restaurants in the House of Commons between 2018-2021.
A 3 course meal costs £10.41.
MP’s average salary is £84,144.
They can afford to pay full price for their own meals!
It is a national shame that children and elderly people in this country go hungry, key workers needing food banks and warm banks, yet the tax payer is spending extortionate money to subsidise food for MP’s who earn almost 50k more than the average worker.

The House of Commons Catering service does not provide a subsidised service in the commercial sense of the word. Some venues make a profit, while in other venues the cost of providing the service does exceed the income received in sales due to the irregular hours and unpredictability of parliamentary business.
