Petition Action

Stop the Home Office from procuring any further accommodation for migrants.

Petition Details

The Home Office must be stopped from procuring any further accommodation for migrants, asylum seekers and refugees. Including procurement through contractors and subsidiaries.
The government must stop new entries and deal with the huge backlog already here.

Additional Information

The government has stated it's only clearing about 4% of the backlog every year. Immigration facilities were overflowing years ago, leading to the procurement of hotels at huge expense to the taxpayer. Now the Home Office is trying to procure mass accommodation facilities like ex-RAF bases in Linton, North Yorkshire and ex-student accommodation like The Lawns near Hull.
This is all done without any care for the surrounding communities and impact such facilities would have. It has to stop.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are unconcerned about housing arrangements for migrants, but it's not clear what you want current arrangements to be replaced with.

We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:

Take action to prevent illegal attempts to enter UK across the Channel: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/621744

Stop housing asylum seekers who entered the UK illegally in hotels: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/628324

We could accept a petition calling for other changes to housing arrangements for migrants, but it would need to be clear what new arrangements you wanted to be put in place.
